No applause for menopause.

Updated: Sep 20, 2020

Menopause does not deserve a standing ovation, not even a one handed thigh clap.

-Intense mood swings

-Hot flushes that leave you dripping in a pool of sweat, sometimes steaming from the bones

-Dry hair, dry skin, dry down there ↓

-Feeling foggy

-Memory loss

-Lack of libido

-Weight gain

-Thinning hair

And these symptoms can last a decade (and we thought periods were bad!)

As if that's not enough to deal with, those closest to you don't understand what your going through which can lead to disagreements, tension, frustration and tears. You've considered HRT but have come to the (accurate) conclusion that the risks outweigh the benefits.

Luckily, there is another way; chinese medicine is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G for providing relief from the myriad of nasty symptoms.

Acupuncture regulates hormones, reduces the frequency and severity of hot flushes, sweats, relieves anxiety and restores sleep. Menopause is actually one of my favourite things to treat as the results can be quick and quite dramatic. This life changing period can also cause some women to feel immense vulnerability.

This time tends to coincide with children growing up and "leaving the nest", and many women feel a loss of identity as a woman, as a mother.

For many they have forgotten who they were before they were "mum", they've forgotten what they were passionate about, forgotten how to be silly and free. Their job is unfulfilling and there can be an icky stuck feeling with where they are at in life, limbo almost.

As draining and uncomfortable as menopause is - this adjustment period is a real opportunity for women to redefine themselves, re-ignite their passion by taking on new hobbies, letting go of years of responsibility and taking control of this next phase of their life rather than succumbing to it.

Acupuncture relieves stuck energy and emotional blockages in the body, helping women to regain their confidence to get back out into the world and enjoy this next chapter.
